Heidi W. Gerding

A respected and accomplished entrepreneur with more than 35 years of experience in the federal government services industry. Heidi is the CEO and founder of HeiTech Services, Inc. She spends her time planning for the future, business development and marketing, operations, and works to insure that employees understand the company’s’ vision, mission, direction and goals.

Heidi holds the distinction of being the first woman from Minnesota to graduate from USNA. Her Navy career spanned nearly 10-years during a time in our country’s history when being an Academy graduate, a naval officer, and a woman challenged established tradition.

Heidi’s Navy career was highlighted by assignments previously unique for a woman, such as leading a Mobile Mine Assembly Group. In her last assignment in Washington D.C. Heidi was the officer responsible for establishing and administering the Navy and Marine Corps’ HIV-AIDS personnel policy.

After leaving the Navy, her leadership and organizational skills placed her in roles of increasing responsibility leading to President for an IT-firm headquartered in Tysons Corner, VA. In October 1999, she burned her boat on the beach and undertook a journey that would forever change the course of her life. She formed HeiTech Services, Inc., a well-respected federal government contracting firm whose mission is “to help the federal government keep Americans safe.”

HeiTech Services, Inc. has prospered and grown expansively since its founding because of Heidi’s dedication, business acumen, and leadership. A woman and service-disabled veteran-owned business, HeiTech Services closed its highest year with $46 million in revenue and over 500 employees. Heidi has been the protégé to two large federal contractors (Serco and PAE) and now serves as a mentor to two small businesses.

She has received Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year® Award and the Department of Veterans Affairs Enterprising Veteran Award, to name a few.

Heidi is a founding Board Member of the National Veteran Small Business Coalition (NVSBC), a non-profit whose mission is to transition veterans into business owners servicing the Federal Government, and currently serves as the Board’s President (Emeritus) after completing 4-years as the President. The organization grew to over 400 member companies. She has coordinated annual conferences, fundraising events, and publicity campaigns. Heidi also serves on several other Boards including: the Professional Services Council, Mid-Tier Advocacy, Inc. and King’s College in Wilkes- Barre, PA.

Her company provides regular philanthropic support to both the veteran community and recent college graduates to help them obtain meaningful employment.

Heidi is an entrepreneur, accomplished business leader, advocate of small business enterprise — and mother of four.

Her dedication and commitment to her work and her family is evident in the manner with which she provides exceptional customer service to her clients while nurturing the professional and personal needs of her employees.

These qualities, combined with her knowledge, skills and abilities, have proved to be a successful combination and enable her to succeed as a woman, mother, Naval Officer, and business owner.
